Today was a very interesting day. I knew there was going to be an assembly, and I was told that it would go all day, and we didn't have any classes, so I almost wanted to stay home and sleep. I decided to get up in the end because I wanted to see what it was like since there is one every month. I didn't bring my backpack, and Roberto dropped me off at this stadium/gym place. I stood there awkwardly by myself because I didn't know anyone and then a kid from my class who speaks English showed up. I felt like a lost puppy just following him around. Then we went inside and sat down. The girls I usually hang out with in class weren't there today, so I was all alone until a couple of girls from another class came and sat down with me. We ended up hanging out for the whole day at the assembly and talking. I have decided that I will probably stay home for the next assembly though. Sleep is better.
Now I am going to try to explain the assembly... It was way different than anything we have in Reno. First of all, each class has to go to the center of the court and verbally tell some people who you are voting for as school president. (I had no idea what was going on at that point.) Then the rest of the assembly (about 3 hours) was dedicated to "welcoming" the first class into the school. It was very interesting. Every single first year student had to go through this obstacle course thing beginning with crawling through the legs of about 20 fifth year students who slapped their butts as they went through. Then they hopped in trash bags and did some other stuff and what not. After a while, there was also the most beautiful first year girl and boy contest where about 20 girls and 20 guys walked around and and were slowly eliminated if they didn't get enough applause. Talk about a self-esteem booster. There was also random music playing throughout the whole thing.
The assembly ended around 12:30 and I walked to the supermarket with my friends because they had to get something. Then we all walked home together. I had lunch and then I skyped with my mom and Kat. I went to my Italian lessons with Janie at 4 for an hour and then we went and got gelato and went back to her house to finish our movie that we started yesterday. Janie's host mom dropped me off at the gym at 6:10 and I did a the step class with Giovanna. I'm eating way too much food and I need to burn it off faster! When I got home, I ate more food and then went to my room. Janie and I were going to go to the church group, but she got distracted and Giovanna wasn't going, so I didn't either. I ended up chatting with like 6 people on facebook. I realized that I am very good with keeping up with a ton of different conversations.
Now I'm going to bed and I am going to listen to the new music I got today! Over and over again! I love it so much!
Buonanotte!
