Today was a pretty uneventful day. I slept about half of it, until 11:45, and then I got up and had breakfast. At around 12:30, my host parents came home from wherever they had been and told me to get ready because we were going to Janie's host parent's house. I got ready super quickly and then we left the house.
When we got there, a bunch of my friends were there too. We all sat down in the living room and talked. I just listened to everybody talk and wasn't able to contribute anything to the conversation because I didn't understand anything. Janie and I would frequently exchange the "I have no idea what they are talking about" glance. About 45 minutes later, we all sat down at the table and started to eat. There were a ton of different types of pizza. Cheese, tomato, onion, rosemary, meat, and the flower of zucchini or something like that. I tried about three of them. There was sooo much to eat, and I stopped eating long before everybody else. I waited about 30 minutes and then everybody else was done eating as well.
Then dessert was brought out. The first thing was like this pastry thing with honey on it and it tasted vaguely like a donut. It was really good! And then there was this other type of cake with nuts on top and creme in the middle. I explained to everybody that Italian lunch would be considered an American dinner. When everybody finished, we all sat down again, talked, and watched MTV videos on the tv.
All my friends left about an hour later and I ended up staying until about 6. It was super boring because I couldn't understand anything and the adults were just talking amongst themselves. Finally, Janie and I went with Janie's host sister Giulia to go to the chalet. We just sat there and talked until around 8 and then I was dropped off at home. It is starting to get really cold in Fabriano. I was glad to be going home because I was freezing.
I had dinner and now I am going to attempt to go to bed early so I don't have to struggle to stay awake in class tomorrow.
